I am a little surprised by the high reviews left by other readers. Parts of this book is very good, but as part of the series I am having a tough time with it. The Victoria Gardella series was a good read, but the end left many questions regarding a certain main character. The questions were not answered in the Victoria series as what the long promise was and I chose to read this next series to see how it moves forward. As I finished this book, I still don't know what the point of the long promise was. Really I don't. Sebastian has been pointless in this series which is very upsetting, and I feel that the series can not be a stand alone without reading the Victoria series where you learn so much more about Venetars. I don't feel like Sebastian's role was ever really explained in this series. Grady is a character worth exploring more and is brave and smart, and I am annoyed at Macey with her cowardliness regarding him. Also the storyline with Chas really seems to be missing something as well. I am hoping the final book sheds some light on the long promise further as well as wraps the story up well.Product details

I was impatiently waiting for Roaring Shadows for, what felt like, years and years. This next book in the series doesn't disappoint. One of the things I've always loved about Colleen Gleason is she's not afraid to punch you in the gut with her books. I was mad, I cried and I really enjoyed this book. I hope the next one is quick to be out )
I have read the Gardella series and just finished Roaring Shadows which did not disappoint! I was on the edge of my seat while reading and could not put it down.Macey has so much responsibility on her young shoulders and so many difficult decisions to make in order to protect those she loves while continuing to fulfill her duties as a Vampire hunter!Cannot wait for the next chapter of her story!
Excellent book, fabulous series! I could write a long review, but if you have read any of Colleen Gleason's books I can tell you, you will not be disappointed, once again she keeps the reader guessing, yet enthralled to the point you won't want to put this book down. If you have not read any of this author's books...... The Gardella series are a must.....as well as Macey's story. Pick up this book and all by this author...... you will love her as much as I....and all her fans.
I'm a big fan of this author and I have probably read everything she's ever written. All her series are amazing. She stepped into teen steampunk and that's not my genre but everything else was and remains as fabulous as ever. This book was no exception, with one. I don't like certain tropes that are written in the vampire genre repeatedly and mind erasure is one. Killing off key characters without them having had a life with their true love is another. I'm not sure is this is the end of the series but I'm kinda done. Sebastian was owed more as was the intelligent Grady. So I guess I'm a wee bit disappointed this time around but I'm sure a well crafted adventure is around the corner as Collean Gleason is amazing!
Read this book three times. Be prepared for several shocking revelations. Another great paranormal novel! Gleason continues to fascinate and capture us with unfolding secrets of The Gardella Vampire Hunters ancestry. Author’s writing skills are powerful. She is able to lure you in slowly and seize you page after page.
So many gripping twist in the plot. An extensive well written novel. Characters are perfectly written throughout the story.
Without reservation, I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

Please don't read this if you have not read the book. I wouldn't want to ruin the ending for you.
First I'd like to say I love this author. However I was extremely disappointed with the ending of our hero Sebastian. I knew at some point that he'd have to find his happiness. The golden god had very little inner acton and always seemed kind of wimmpy. I'm not sure that I could have ended it any better if I were an author (which I'm not )I know it can't be easy to end a life that's lived so long.
I was just hoping for him to last a little bit longer and play more of a hero, and not a complainer. It seemed like he just wanting to have his life over with. I know without a dought that the next book will be as good as the others.
Gleason is one of my favorite authors. Love the characters that she creates.

Roaring Shadows was an engrossing page-turner that I couldn't put down! As Macey has come more fully into her role as a venator she faces a number of difficult decisions. Much like her ancestor Victoria before her, Macey struggles with balancing her duty and the obligations of her personal life --made even more complicated by events revealed in the first book. She also spends much of the book questioning what it means to be a venator and what it could hold for her future. The weight of responsibility is heavier on her. This doesn't slow the pacing, but it focuses the plot in an unexpected direction.
As introspective as the book can be at times, it is well-balanced with plenty of twists, turns and action. I enjoyed the depth of detail in the story and how easy it was for me to slip into the rich, glittering atmosphere of nineteen-twenties Chicago. The characters were just as intriguing as the first book, but since Roaring Shadows focuses on Macey being more independent, we don't see as much of them. While I would've liked to see more of certain characters this decision makes sense given the direction of the plot. Also, through multiple points of view and conversation, many of the questions raised in the previous book were subsequently answered in this one.
A few of Macey's decisions shocked me. Regardless of how I feel about them, you definitely get a sense of her as a character and it distinguished her from Victoria, which I appreciated. (If you haven't read The Gardella Vampire Hunters series yet, you should consider it.) The ending is full of shocks and revelations, making this another can't miss read!
